FIRST BIRTHDAY SHOOT I had the honour of photograp FIRST BIRTHDAY SHOOT I had the honour of photographing this gorgeous little girl’s first birthday shoot at her home. And it was wonderful – the family was all there and they had special personalised biscuits and cupcakes for her plus the arch of course which provided a perfect backdrop for the family’s fun posed portraits. The rest of the shoot was a mix of informal photos capturing baby L doing her stuff – which meant natural expressions including, angry and sad (when she had her biscuit removed) and beautiful lovely photos of her wrinkling her nose! I love photographing in someone’s natural home environment and the photos were just lovely. I offer either a 15 minute shoot option, or 30 minutes or 60 minutes the choice is yours. Plus you can purchase a gift voucher for a family friend or member to get their family portraits too! M O N E Y Let’s talk about the elephant in the r M O N E Y Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. I have hesitated over making this post but here goes…. I am lucky to have had amazing clients who make speedy payments for upcoming work or completed photo sessions. We all understand the need to be paid and as a self employed photographer so often clients think that’s okay Ill pay the bill later without realising this might be the only income we are getting that month. We have bills to pay like everyone else and delayed payments have huge knock on effects. Especially if you are the sole bill payer in the family and are not reliant on a second income. Imagine adding a child to support too without any additional income and the importance of prompt payment becomes even more relevant. I don’t think people realise is how tough the wedding industry in particular has been for photographers since covid19. For a lot of photographers the pandemic has led to many having second or third careers in alternative jobs simply to make ends meet. We are still completing weddings booked over three years ago and have moved the dates as many as 4 times. This means we cannot accept new work on those days through loyalty to our previous clients. Inflation hasn’t been passed on to these clients and they are paying old prices for weddings and albums three years in the making and yet petrol/food/mortgage prices are soaring. In an already saturated market with new bookings relatively few, prompt payment of photography enables us to pay our bills. If you value artists/photographers keep employing us and supporting us. Those whose full time career is in photography cannot sustain this way of life without your understanding and commitment to keeping artistry alive. It’s okay to say things are tough! Being supported with a kind word or recommendation or positive reviews makes a huge difference. Just thought I would share - The most gorgeous Dah Just thought I would share - The most gorgeous Dahl ever !! Ingredients: 250 grams of lentils, 30 grams of garlic (roughly one whole garlic bulb), two chopped up green chillies, two tsp of cumin seeds, 1 tsp of garam masala, 1 tsp of salt, 1 1/2 of tumeric, fresh coriander and butter. Wash the lentils 2 or 3 times with hot water. Then add pint and a half of cold water to the lentils, add the tumeric, salt and masala to the lentils. Once booked let the lentils simmer for 20 minutes and add about a table spoon of butter. Continue to simmer. Add water if it’s getting too thick. In a separate pan add 5 tablespoons of olive oil, add cumin seeds and grated garlic and fry until slightly brown. Add the chillis. Add this to the lentils and simmer for another 10 minutes. Add fresh coriander once it has cooked. If it’s too runny then just keep cooking it for long until you get the consistency you want. Good luck! #indianfood #recipe #dahl #besteverrecipe

B R A N D I N G A lot of my clients are returning B R A N D I N G A lot of my clients are returning clients and in this case I photographed Sue’s wedding on 31st December 2021, so was fab to catch up and see how much she still loves all her wedding photos. This time however it was a branding shoot for Sue to use images she can share when on a zoom call and they are required to upload a photo of themselves for the duration of the call. She has a fantastic home studio and garden so I made the most of that and at the end persuaded her to have some with her gorgeous dog Penny – you never know when you need to share a more relaxed shot of yourself for work no matter how corporate. I love doing branding shoots – this was a half hour shoot in St Albans with images edited in 24 hours and uploaded ready to download the next day.
